Mountain Hope

"Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet: praise Him with the psaltery and harp. Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: praise Him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise Him upon the loud cymbals: praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals." Psalm 150:3-5

I am beyond grateful to God to announce that two very special friends and I started a band called Mountain Hope! We are an acoustic band that performs Gospel, bluegrass, folk, and old-timey, classic country music, with some humor comedy relief thrown in. This is the music I was raised on. Many a family gathering was spent singing these songs, and they bring back so many precious memories to me. We aren't perfect, nor do we claim to be, but we all love the music so very much and are passionate about what we are doing. For me, Mountain Hope is a dear gift from God—the fulfillment of a lifelong dream that started way back when I started singing tenor on "Amazing Grace" with Mom and Dad in the car at the age of three. I have absolutely loved to sing ever since and to have the opportunity to do music with these two guys is a truly cherished gift for which I am eternally grateful.

Zach started a YouTube channel to keep up with our music, and if you would like to hear us and be notified when Zach uploads new content, please consider subscribing here! And please feel free to share our music with others. We would be most grateful for your support!

To give you a sneak preview of what to expect, here is a video of us performing one of my all-time favorite songs ~ "My Tennessee Mountain Home" written by Dolly Parton. This song has always meant so much to me because even though I was not born in Tennessee, my Daddy was from Tennessee, and his love for the mountains and mountain music is such a huge part of my heritage and who I am and will always be. How I miss him! He would have loved being a part of what God is allowing Mountain Hope to do.

I hope you enjoy our music and it brings some downhome comfort your way!

Pat, Chuck, and Cheryl

May God richly bless each one of you and meet your every need.

Much love, Cheryl

  1. Oh Cheryl, I love it! This is my kind of music too. I used to sing in a Bluegrass group and truly miss it. I was only able to listen to a couple of songs as I have some forms to fill out for doctors, but then I'll head back and listen to the rest. Congratulations my friend, on having a dream fulfilled.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. I remember praying after I got saved that God would open a door for me to sing. Little did I know God had a plan already in place. I met a couple from the church who lived right down the street from me. We car pooled our kids together. She and her husband sang a heavenly music I had not been introduced to till salvation. I would sit in their basement and listen and cried at these song. The harmony touched straight to the core of me and the messages in the songs, simple, pure, true. Somewhere along the line I started singing with them and then we sang at church. Another friend of their sang with us, us three ladies formed a group called, Sweet Spirit. I LOVED IT , and thought we would continue to follow God's leading as we were beginning to be ask to sing at other churches. But, again God had a turn in my journey when we followed the leading of the Lord to go into overseas missions. I sang solo for a couple of years while we raised our support. I thought I would never sing overseas, but again, God wanted to use that part of my life. I sing very little now but after listening to you and the group sing I had a stirring to do so again. And a couple who go to our church came to mind. So I am going to go talk to them about singing with me. Let me say it again, I LOVE FIRST YOUR HEART CHERYL AND I LOVE YOUR MUSIC. You have encouraged my heart so much as I read your Godly wisdom through this blog. Your heart for others always come through your words. God's blessing to you is spilling over to others by the comments I have read and will continue to do so. Thanks you dear sister for being a willing servant of God.

And, I am SO thankful this post inspired you to get back to doing something you not only love so dearly, but you are called by God to do! PLEASE do contact that couple at church and start pursuing this God-given dream and talent again. And when you do, please let me know how I can listen and support your music! You will never know what your words meant to me this morning. May God richly and abundantly bless you, my dear sister and friend.
