My Thoughts and Two Winners!

We could all use some good news about right now, right?  Every, single person I talk to is devastated, full of fear, and heartsick.  I hope this post will lift your spirits.  I know at least two people who will find a bit of joy while reading this - the two winners of the brand-new book by Katherine J. Masters!  I will announce their names at the end of this post.  😉

In the meantime, I want to remind you of some thoughts the Lord is bringing to my heart today.  I don't know His mind or what He is doing right now, but I hope He will use these words to minister to you.

1.  2020 is a year like no other.

So, don't think everything is as it seems.  Even though it looks like evil won and continues to win, evil can only go as far as God allows.  This whole year, it has seemed to me that God has been confounding the wise.

"But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty." I Corinthians 1:27

He has allowed things to be shaken up to the point that everyone has to acknowledge this fact - none of us are in control.  Almighty GOD is in control.  He will allow what He will allow, and all of the pride and arrogance in the hearts of mankind holds zero power over Him and His plans.  He will do what He will do, and even the highest politically ranked, the most powerful moguls, and the most influential media bias can and will prevail only if God allows them to.

2.  Don't believe all you see and hear.

Right now, it appears that all our praying, fasting, earnest intercession, and voting in this election was to no avail.  It looks like God turned a deaf ear to all our effort.  I cannot begin to say how discouraging this is to me.  If we can't get our prayers through, what other hope do we have?  I am going to go out on a limb here, at the expense of looking like a fool.  To be honest, I'm getting used to that, and how something makes me look doesn't really bother me much anymore.  I am going to be transparent about what I feel and sense in my spirit.  It looks like God turned a deaf ear - but did He?  I don't think He did.  I don't think the truth is being told, and I do not think this is all over.  I believe there is great value in staying close to Jesus and being sensitive to and observant of how He is working and operating in a particular season.  Based on how He has strategically operated and what He has already done and allowed in 2020, don't be surprised at the "surprises" up ahead.

3.  God will not be manipulated.

We Christians can be a pompous lot.  We can get this idea that because we are followers of Christ, our automatic "in" with Him can be used to manipulate Him into doing what we think He should.  No matter how close we walk with God, He is and will always be GOD.  He sees the end from the beginning, and He has a Divine purpose in all He does.  I saw an awful lot of smugness going into this election.  As if we had the upper hand because God is on our side.  God IS on our side.  That is a Scripturally-proven fact.  God will always be on the side of what coincides with His Word.  But, within the pages of that Holy Word, in Proverbs 6:16-19, there is also a list of the things God hates.  The very first item on that list?  "A proud look."  Other versions call it "haughty eyes," "arrogant eyes," "those who are too proud," and "lofty eyes."  We often quote 2 Chronicles 7:14, but we seem to glide right over the very first condition we must meet if we are to get God to hear from Heaven and heal our land.  In the list of four things we must do, "humble ourselves" comes first.  It is easy to skip right over that one and head right into #2 on the list, which is "pray."  I know we have done a lot of humbling this year as our plans have been constantly derailed, our lives have been turned upside down, and what we called "normal" has been totally redefined.  But, have we humbled enough?  Have we humbled where it matters most?  Have we searched our inmost souls and made sure we are where we need to be with God?  Have we given up sin and allowed Him to cleanse us from the things we have let down our spiritual guard about and started making allowances for?  If the current state of affairs should teach us anything, it is surely that we all need to fall on our faces before God and seek Him in earnest like never before.  It all starts with me.  God, help me.

"Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:  and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."  Psalm 139:23-24

4.  God will do things in a way where HE gets the glory - not us.

Again, at the expense of sounding or looking foolish, what if God didn't want us to be able to take the credit for a good outcome in this election?  Had things gone the way we prayed they would, without a hitch, our rejoicing would still be mingled with that touch of smugness and assumption that God gave us what we wanted because of our "position" in Him, what we did, and our own efforts.  What if God is doing something far above what any of us could ever do, so that HE will be magnified and glorified?

"I am the LORD: that is My name: and My glory will I not give to another, neither My praise to graven images."  Isaiah 42:8

What if He allowed this to look like utter defeat because He is doing something so vastly far above anything we could ever muster?  So, that we will all have to turn to one another and say, "Look what GOD just did!"  What if He thwarted our efforts so He can show the whole world (including us, ahem, smug Christians) that only HIS plans will prevail?

"There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand."  Proverbs 19:21

5.  Spiritual warfare is brutal.

It is exhausting.  I'll be honest.  I am completely spent.  I have prayed so hard.  I have cried for days, pleading with God for a different outcome, pounding the doors of Heaven, begging God to intervene and help us.  I sense, deep down in my spirit, that this battle is some of the most intense spiritual warfare you and I have ever faced or fought.  There are powers at play that are far beyond what we can imagine.  If you pulled back the curtain right now and peeked into the spiritual realm, I have no doubt that you would see innumerable demonic forces fighting harder than they ever have.  The very gates of hell are coming against God's church, and satan has pulled out all stops to unleash all manner of evil, fraud, lies, deception, guile, and underhandedness.  Why?  There is so much at stake, the lives of the precious unborn being at the top of the list.  Life matters deeply to God, and it is literally on the line in this election.  You won't have to look very far to see how gung-ho the democrats are when it comes to slaughtering unborn babies in the womb and harvesting their little body parts, along with a plethora of other blatant sins they not only condone, but defiantly flaunt and openly celebrate.  THAT is why this is affecting so many Christians, including me, so profoundly.  There is this temptation right now to throw in the towel, to just accept what has happened and settle in for the "dark winter" we were promised by the democratic candidate.  but never before has there been a need to fight harder.  We cannot lay our armor down.  Ever.  Especially not now.  This is NOT, by a longshot, over.  I don't know why and can't explain it, but I feel deep in my spirit that GOD is going to do something that will defy what any of us - on both sides of the political aisle - have even imagined.  Something so big that it will put every, single one of us in our place and show us that His purpose will prevail, no matter what any of us try to do to manipulate it.

6.  We need to pray harder now than we did before November 3rd.

Remember what was happening one week ago today?  I don't know about you, but I was praying for all I was worth.  And, I admit, I was literally sick to my stomach with anxiety over what would happen on election day.  Well, if we were praying hard last Monday, we need to be praying even harder today.  According to the Constitution, the only way an election is officially decided is when the electors from each state certify the results - not when the biased media picks its preference and decides it is all over.  Since there is still so much ongoing litigation in several states, we need to be praying like we have never prayed before.  Everything has to be settled by December 8th, and on December 14th the electors will cast their votes by paper ballot.  Then, and only then, will this election be decided and over.  So, my advice, for what it's worth, is that we, the body of Christ, need to humble ourselves before Him, pray, seek His face with all our hearts, and turn from our wicked ways.  The future of our nation literally hangs on what happens on December 14th.  NO, I am not a fear mongerer.  I am a realist with a spiritual vision and a lot of faith in the God of heaven.

This isn't the first time God's people have found themselves in completely impossible situations surrounded by the forces of evil.  I love to read this encouraging passage in 2 Kings 6:15-17,

"And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, 'Alas, my master! how shall we do?' And he answered, 'Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.' And Elisha prayed, and said, 'LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.' And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha."

Praise God!  If that curtain I spoke of above were to be opened, you would not only see "innumerable demonic forces fighting harder than they ever have," but you would also see "the mountain full of horses and chariots of fire round about" God's faithful ones.  He is with us still, regardless.

There are two Biblical prayers I am praying until this whole situation is resolved, and I invite you to join me.  The first is the prayer of Jehoshophat when he found himself in the situation described here:

"It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle. Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, 'There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar, which is Engedi.' And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD." 2 Chronicles 20:1-4

Prayer #1 ~ Jehoshaphat's Prayer

"O LORD God of our fathers, art not Thou God in heaven? And rulest not Thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? And in Thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand Thee? Art not Thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before Thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham Thy friend for ever? And they dwelt therein, and have built Thee a sanctuary therein for Thy name, saying, If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in Thy presence, (for Thy name is in this house,) and cry unto Thee in our affliction, then Thou wilt hear and help. And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not; behold, I say, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of Thy possession, which Thou hast given us to inherit. O our God, wilt Thou not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon Thee."  2 Chronicles 20:6-12

The second is the prayer Jesus' disciples prayed in Acts chapter 4.  The powers that be were "tightening the screws" and threatening them for their Christian faith.  After being released from their persecutors, they prayed the following prayer.

Prayer #2 ~ Peter and John's Prayer

"Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:  Who by the mouth of Thy servant David hast said, 'Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?'  The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against His Christ.  For of a truth against Thy holy child Jesus, Whom Thou hast anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate with the Gentiles and the people of Israel were gathered together for to do whatsoever Thy hand and Thy counsel determined before to be done. And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto Thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak Thy word, by stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of Thy holy child Jesus."  Acts 4:24-30

In addition, a friend sent this prayer to me the other day, and I have been praying these words, also.

"Lord, we worship You over America today. You alone are worthy of our worship. You are the One we look to for peace over our elections and our country. You are El Olam, the Eternal One. We prepare our hearts and minds and emotions to engage the enemy as You would lead us today. We bind every spirit of darkness that would try to take over or wreak havoc or stir up fear in the citizens of this state's cities [name them]. We say, "The peace of Christ will rule and reign over the atmosphere in these cities"[name them]. We loose confusion into the camp of the enemy and say that all of their plans will be thwarted.  We say, "The White House and the government of the United States of America is secure. Every plan of darkness is fully exposed and will be dealt with swiftly, in Jesus' name. We loose the peace of God over Washington, DC, and all across this land!"  We further bind any and all attempts to fraudulently interfere with the election results of the qualified voting citizens of the United States of America. We say that nothing can affect the results of the valid ballots cast. Every scheme to delay counting, to receive unqualified ballots, or any other attempt to "throw" any election will be uncovered and quickly and legally dealt with. We loose the most accurate resolution as quickly as possible. We decree, "The results of the 2020 election will not be tainted with fraud. All fraud will be swiftly exposed and severely dealt with. Those elected will be quickly known and acknowledged. We take authority over all these things in Jesus' name, amen."

  2. Congratulations Su Ann and Pam! I hope you enjoy the book.
Cheryl, my sweet friend, as I read this post I could almost hear your voice. It is SO important not to lose heart or hope. God is STILL ON HIS THRONE! He hears our prayers whether we whisper them or shout them. I honestly don't think I've ever seen an election so important.
I'm also praying for Dr. Carson. He is such a gentle, faithful and intelligent man. May the Lord heal him from COVID quickly.

    1. Yes, dear friend! God IS still on the throne, and HE alone is supreme and sovereign over all. My heart remains very heavily burdened, and I pray until I run out of words to say. I haven't ever seen an election so important, either. Yes, let's please pray for Dr. Carson. He surely is all you said, and I trust the Lord will have mercy and heal him, bless his heart. Many blessings and much love to you.

  3. Thank you Cheryl! What a powerful post and I appreciate everything you wrote. I'm reminded of a song by I think her name is Twila ( oh I can't remember her last name) called God is In Control. And Dr.Carson is in my prayers too.

    1. Twila Paris! One of my favorites!

    2. Oh, Twila is one of my favorites, too! I was just thinking of her the other day. I wonder if she still records? Yes, let's keep praying for Dr. Carson. Love to both of you sweet friends.

  4. Congratulations to the winners of your giveaway!!
I think we were feeling so defeated last week. However, it does appear that justice will be done. We just want a legal election. Our prayers are always heard. Thank you for pouring your heart and feelings out for us. God bless you and your family. We will continue as prayer warriors.

    1. Oh, Kitty! I hope you are right and justice will be done! There is SO much evil, it is hard to see any hope, but we know GOD is bigger than any and all evil that is being done. Thank you SO much for your kind words and yes, let us never stop praying about this election. Surely God is able to do what we cannot. Sending love and hugs your way, sweet friend.

  5. Yes, Cheryl, praying more fervently than ever! May God's mighty hand work the miracle we need.

    1. Amen, and amen, Martha! Impossibiity is the place where a miracle can take place, and that is surely what we need. I have a heavy burden to pray specifically for President Trump tonight. Many blessings to you, too, my friend.

  6. Cheryl, your words and posts give me great comfort. Thank you so much! I agree with you and praise God for our partnership in Jesus. Just this morning I was reminded of Gideon, whose army shrank before his very eyes before he went into battle - and won. Joshua and the battle of Jericho, as well. I've heard such smugness on the "other" side since the election. Lord, have mercy. I pray that the numbers given AREN'T real and there are more, human and angelic, on the Lord's side than we see and know and that all will be revealed to His glory. Open my eyes, Lord, let me see Jesus. Amen.

    1. Dear, sweet friend, Your words encouraged me so much today! I praise God for you and our precious friendship. YES! What a wonderful thought about Gideon - he has come to my mind, too. Sending much love and gratitude to you today.

  7. Also, congratulations to the winners! I love "New Beginnings at Rosewood" - it's a great book.

    1. I loved the book, too! I hope she will write a sequel!

  8. It is more important than ever that we keep our eyes on the Lord and trust Him to have a perfect plan. Yes, we need to pray much, and be willing to accept whatever answer He gives. What a blessing to know He is able and that nothing can stop Him from working out His plan.

    1. My hope is built on nothing else, but Jesus' blood and righteousness. Oh, dear Lord help us. HE is our only hope.

  9. Sweet Cheryl, YES...we best pray hard and I mean pray! I have all along tried to keep my eyes focused on Jesus and I can tell you that Satan attacked me with pure out fear. Fear of a lot...not just Covid and not just Election and not just.....But with prayer warriors at my side and God leading me every step of the way I finally smacked the enemy in his face! But, he knows all too well where our weaknesses are doesn't he? And that attack came out of no where!!! I thought to myself, my mercy! I teach the living Word of God and have taught on such!!! Well, we are none exempt of attacks for sure. So glad that I serve a God that never changes and leads and guides me. Praying for our country and knowing that He is on the throne and has already won the victory! Your post dear friend always brings me so much comfort and even an UMP to continue to the race we are in. Love you and appreciate you. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

    1. Oh, dear friend! Me, too! So much fear and anxiety. You are such a precious soldier of the cross, and your ministry is having such an impact. The enemy attacks those who work hardest for Jesus, but we are more than conquerors through HIM that loves us. I love and appreciate you dearly and am so grateful for your support and encouragement. God bless you richly.

  10. Oh dear friend, your words are such an encouragement here today. I especially loved what you said regarding the Lord doing something here that can ONLY be attributed to Him and His power. And like you said, even Christians need to be humbled at a time like this to recognize it was not them, but their great God. Indeed, we are called to pray like never before, but we are also to recognize that God is surely in control and Sovereign over all things and we can trust Him to accomplish all that He has set forth in His perfect will, even if it looks impossible to us. I confess that I have doubted that anything would change now that the election is over, but after receiving your email, reading your post and listening to a few other conservative journalists who are fair in their reporting, I am feeling hopeful. I was also convicted recognizing that I was doubting God's power in all of this and reminded that He can change anything around.

I love the Scripture prayers you shared. Very powerful!

Thank you so much for standing up for the unborn, for Christians and most especially for standing up for the God of Heaven and that His Kingdom would prevail here on earth.

    Sending you much love,

    1. Oh, dear friend! You brought such comfort and peace to my spirit as I read your precious words. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for standing up for His truth, for being so faithful to HIM, and for being such an encouraging presence in my life. Much love and gratitude to you today.
