Pray for Daxton Gage

"Call unto Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things,
which you know not."
Jeremiah 33:3
(King James 2000 Bible)

Stories like the one you are about to read are just heart-wrenching.
They especially tug at the heart of a parent reading of the anguish in the hearts of other parents.

We wonder why these things happen, and many times, we can reach no logical conclusions.
We search for somewhere to place the blame.
We try to analyze and explain it in a way that it can be justified.
The truth is, God is in control.
He has the final say.
And it is not for us to understand everyone of His thoughts and/or plans.

But, one story that always comes to my mind, when I hear of a situation like this one,
is the story found in the 9th chapter of John.

"And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
And His disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents,
that he was born blind?
Jesus answered,
Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents:
but that the works of God should be made manifest in him."
John 9:1-3

The disciples were human, just like you and me.
They had a problem wrapping their mind around the reality of human suffering.
They sought for a justifiable cause to explain why anyone would have to endure such a plight.
Hoping to hear something that would appease their need for clarification and rationale,
they did the most obvious, reasonable thing to do.
They turned to Jesus, the Source of all knowledge,
the Wellspring from which all life flows,
the Creator of all things,
God, in the flesh,
and they asked Him.

In my words...
"Master, why was this man born blind?
Who caused this?
Was it something his mother did?
Was it because his father committed sin?
Where can we place the blame?
Who is at fault?
Why did this happen?"

The truth came forth from the mouth of The Truth, and He said,
"This is not the fault of either of his parents or of him.
The sole purpose for this situation is so that the works of God can be revealed.
The whole reason he has gone through life blind, to this point,
is because it was known, since the moment of his conception,
that one day He and I would cross paths, I would heal him,
and this miracle would be recorded.
This will prove My power to heal, and God will be exalted and glorified."

God sometimes allows the need for a miracle,
solely for the purpose of the performance of a miracle.

Sometimes, He just wants to show how strong He really is.
Sometimes, He wants His people to lay aside denominational and cultural differences,
for the sake of a greater cause, and to come together in unified prayer.
Isn't it amazing what happens when we do?

If you need a quick memory jog,
read about Baby ObedBaby RaygenJakob Cooper, and Connie Flanders ...
just four miracle stories to inspire your faith.
There are many, many others, but those are the most recent ones we've talked about here.

So, we know what God can do.
His impeccable, stalwart track record removes any justifiable reason for doubt.
He never fails.

Today, I come before you with yet another desperate plea for prayer.
I was asked to post it here so that you, the faithful prayer warriors, could pick it up
and help to pray this baby through.

His name is Daxton Gage.
I found the meaning of his name to be very significant.
Daxton means, "Warrior who conquers great obstacles",
and Gage means, "oath or pledge".

This little "warrior" was born into this world facing some of the greatest obstacles possible.

He was delivered by Cesarean on May 27, 2015, four weeks early, with a congenital heart defect.
I am no medical expert, but I declare it sounds like his condition is the exact same problem
Baby Obed was diagnosed with before birth and was recently operated on to correct.

Baby Daxton has arteries in the wrong place, resulting in an insufficient amount of oxygen being carried throughout his body.
He has also suffered from bleeding on both sides of his brain.

I can't imagine how terrible it was for these dear parents to not be able to physically hold
or interact with their baby for the first few days after he was born!

The doctors were finally able to remove the ventilator for a period of time,
and they were able to interact with him during that time.
These pictures speak a thousand unspoken words.

How precious!
Bless their dear hearts.

The family includes two older children at home, and they are having to make a four hour trip (one-way) to travel back and forth to be with little Daxton.
An account has been set up HERE to help them with expenses.
Please consider helping if you can.
God rewards every act of kindness and sacrifice,
and even the smallest donation is a huge help during a crisis like this.

A Facebook page called Prayers for Daxton Gage has been set up for updates.
For those of you who are not on Facebook, I will try to post updates here, also.

Please pray, dear friends!!

Update on Jakob Cooper

Sunday, May 31st

Jakob ate all 3 meals by himself today.
He also walked down the hall to the nurses station and back, with support on both sides.
He can also talk, but saves that more for night time.

He is so blessed and most definitely has God working a miracle on him!
Praise God for all He has done and is still doing for Jakob!
It is wonderful to watch his miracle unfold, day by day.
I just wonder what special plan God has in store for this young man's life?
He will definitely have an amazing testimony!!!

Please keep Jakob in your prayers.
God is hearing you!!!

  1. I am overjoyed at the steady progress that Jakob is making! Praise the Lord for His strengthening power. May continued healing be rapid and uncomplicated.

And dear me, another precious baby who needs the Lord's miraculous hand. Recording his name in my prayer journal, and asking the Lord for something really big. An incomprehensible miracle that makes everyone stand back in awe. He can do it, and it's what I'm gonna pray for.

Your verse from Jeremiah was perfect. I have copied here the same verse from the Amplified Bible, and also added some other verses from Chapter 33:

"Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know (do not distinguish and recognize, have knowledge of and understand)...

Behold...I will lay upon it (Daxton!!) health and healing, and I will cure them and will reveal to them the abundance of peace (prosperity, security, stability) and truth...

There shall be heard again the voice of joy and the voice of gladness...and I will have mercy, kindness, and steadfast love on and for them."

    Yes. May it be so.

    1. YES, dear Lord, may the healing continue in Jakob! And this dear new baby...oh, it is so heartbreaking to see what this family is going through. May God hold them close. I LOVE the verses you shared and the other version of that verse! Thank you for always contributing such truth and encouragement in your dear comments here. Love and appreciate you, dear friend. :)

  2. So many hard stories. Praying for Daxton, for Jakob. For their families. For all those who are faithfully praying for them daily. Faith isn't for the faint-hearted! Sometimes our hearts soar; sometimes they break. But through it all, we fight to remember that God is good.

    1. Thank you, Lisa! Your prayers are so appreciated. Yes, there are so many burdens, and it is so sweet to see how they are lightened a little bit more each time another dear saint of God picks them up and helps carry them! I am praying for you and your daughter and trusting God's all-sufficient grace to see you through. God bless you!!

  3. I will be praying. Yes, we know what prayer does. I love the miracle stories you mentioned. We serve an awesome God. I heard it mentioned somewhere that just because our medical technology is limited, that doesn't mean that God is. This is so true.
    Love you dear friend!!

    1. Thank you so much, Chris! Your prayers have been such a support and encouragement to me so many times. I can't thank you enough for interceding and getting under the weight of these burdens. I love what you said about God not being limited!!!!!!! Praise His name!!! Love you, too, sweet friend! :)

  4. I will keep this young boy in my prayers. My daughter was born 6 weeks early and suffered no long term effects from it. So i can understand some of this young couples ways.

    1. Aww...bless your heart. So, you do understand. Thank you ever so much for your prayers and support. You are appreciated!

  5. Hi Cheryl, I love that you bring these precious people to our notice for prayer. I will be remembering them in prayer today and trust the Lord to work miracles in their lives, for His glory
    God bless

    1. Thank you so much, Tracy. It is always such a dear blessing when you stop by. May the dear Lord bless you for praying for these needs!

  6. Hi Cheryl! I will pray for Daxton, and thank you for supplying the meaning of his name. Wow. That's one powerful name! I hope it will serve him well as he heals, supported by his wonderful parents.
Great news on Jakob too! Eating and walking? Halleluia! May God's name and healing be praised in His people. And blessings to you as well, for getting the needs out there for prayer.
Love to hear the updates :)

    1. I know...I thought that was such a neat name and the meaning was just so powerful. His mother shared that on the facebook update page. Thank you for your dear, sweet comments, and may God bless you abundantly for praying and carrying these burdens. :)

  7. I'm praying for baby Daxton… my heart breaks in this fallen world too, sister. Thanks for the update for Jakob. God is good...

    1. Thank you so much, Floyd. Your support and prayers are so appreciated. God bless you. :)
