Thank You, Jesus!

"He is not here, but is risen:  remember how He spake unto you when He was yet in Galilee,
Saying, the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified,
and the third day rise again."
Luke 24:6,7

I have been so abundantly blessed.
I grew up in a Christian home with two Godly parents who loved Jesus with all their hearts.
I cannot remember ever living through an Easter Sunday that His death and resurrection
were not first and foremost in my heart and mind.

You would think after hearing "the old, old story of Jesus and His Love" for 48 years of life,
it would somehow have lost some of its interest, appeal, and ability to draw me in.
But, I can honestly agree with every one of these precious words
penned by Katherine Hankey in 1866.

"I love to tell the story of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory, of Jesus and His love,
I love to tell the story, because I know 'tis true;
It satisfies my longings as nothing else can do.

I love to tell the story, more wonderful it seems,
Than all the golden fancies of all our golden dreams,
I love to tell the story, it did so much for me,
And that is just the reason, I tell it now to thee.

I love to tell the story, 'tis pleasant to repeat,
What seems, each time I tell it, more wonderfully sweet,
I love to tell the story, for some have never heard,
The message of salvation, from God's Own holy Word.

I love to tell the story, for those who know it best,
Seem hungering and thirsting, to hear it like the rest,
And when, in scenes of glory, I sing the new, new song,
'Twill be the old, old story, that I have loved so long."

It's true, dear friends.
Those who know it best, "seem hungering and thirsting, to hear it like the rest".
The story of Jesus never grows old.

The more I hear about Jesus, the more I delve into His precious word,
the more I learn of Him, the better acquainted I become with Him, the longer I walk with Him.....
the more I love Him, long to know Him better,
and want to be with Him and serve Him in every possible way I can.

I can say from the heart that in all of my years of life, I have never loved Him more than I do right Easter.
I wish the whole world could understand Who He is and what He did.
If we could all truly absorb that truth, there would be no despair.
For what Jesus did on that blessed resurrection morning brought about a hope that is eternal.
No matter what.

I love the coupling of "The Revelation Song", sung by Phillips, Craig, and Dean,
along with several very moving scenes from the Passion depicted in this video.
Please take a few minutes to watch and listen.
Have tissues handy, as you will need them.
I have seen this so many times, and it never fails to move me to tears.

I am SO deeply sorry that my sins caused Him to go through the awful things He had to endure.

Thank you, Jesus, for all You did...and still do for us,
for the anguish You bore, and the price You paid for our redemption.
Thank You...from the bottom of my heart...for dying on that old, rugged cross,
and for conquering death on that third day and for coming out of that tomb!
Without You, we would be lost...without hope....destined for an eternity in Hell.
You took our place.
You are our Savior...our only path to God.

Today, for very personal reasons, this Easter,
is more special than any of the Easters I have yet spent.

To God be the glory forever and ever.

Wishing all of you a most wonderful and blessed Resurrection Day!

  5. What a fantastic Easter post - it did it's job and brought us to Jesus and all the He did for us. We are so undeserving of His love but I am so thankful that He still loves us despite us being the way we are. Thank you for this most precious reminder of His love and sacrifice. You are such a blessing and may God bless you all. xxxx

    1. I am so thankful to you for your sweet words and encouragement! YES, we are so undeserving of His love, but He loves us anyway. So very thankful for you and the dear blessing you are, sweet friend. :) God bless you richly!

  6. Beautiful post, Cheryl! I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Rev.1:18
I hope to write another post soon myself. I have been so busy and unable to find the time, but I really enjoy reading yours.
    Love ya.

    1. What a wonderful verse!!! Praise God, He is alive forevermore!!!! And so very thankful He has the keys!!!!!!! I trust your post is going well, and God is giving Divine inspiration. I always look forward to reading what He has given you. You are such a dear encouragement and blessing. Love you, sweet friend. :)

  7. Cheryl, thank you for this. Of all the "modern" worship songs, Revelation Song is my very favorite. It never ceases to bring me to tears. (It's OK, I had Kleenex handy...)

Today, as I watched the images in your post, and heard the song, I found myself spontaneously reaching out and touching my computer screen. I felt so moved to just touch Him, to hold Him somehow as He went through such terrible agony. To let Him know how much I love Him, and how grateful I am for all He did. When the video ended, I went and found the video of the scene in the tomb from The Passion. And I watched, knowing what was coming, but feeling it again...anew. The shadow and light moves over the death cloths, and then they deflate. And there He was, Jesus. The side of His face, restored and beautiful. And then, the moment - He opens His eyes. I can't tell you the goosebumps I got, the tears again. Those eyes opened in LIFE! And in that moment, all our hopes forever and ever were sealed!

Oh Cheryl, this Easter I felt like never before, His heart for me, and my heart for Him. How I love Him.

Thank you for this precious post. I am in perfect accord with my sense of gratitude, as I wrote this week about His outstretched arms.

    Love you, and GOD BLESS!

    1. Oh, dear friend! It is always such a blessing and comfort to see that you have been here and commented! I haven't had time to stop by your place in several days and will try to do that soon. I am trusting all is well with you and am praying for you! You are so dear and such an encouragement to me....I can't thank you enough! Love you, sweet friend.

  8. I remember singing that old hymn so often when I was growing up. I miss the old hymns, and like it when a church will include one from time to time along with the new worship choruses. I gave my heart to Jesus, Easter evening after my mother told the Easter story in Sunday School. Laying there in my bed, I could not remember ever asking Jesus to come live in me, so I did and oh the joy and peace that flooded my soul. Thank you for sharing your lovely post with us here at Tell me a Story.

    1. Me, too, Hazel. I miss the old and I are kindred souls who are from the old school. That is so sweet how you gave your heart to Jesus! What a sweet testimony! Thank you so much for sharing here and for your dear encouragement. Much love to you this Easter/spring season!! :)

  9. Hi Cheryl! I really like that song too. I first heard it on the soundtrack to the movie The Apostle. I hope you had a wonderful Easter celebration! We did spend time with family, which is always such a blessing. What a gift our faith is, and how it makes out lives so much more meaningful.
    Bless you!

    1. We really did have a wonderful Easter. It was one of the most blessed I ever remember experiencing! I am so thankful you could be with your dear family...that makes it all just all the more special! Thank you ever so much for your sweet visit and words! God bless you, sweet friend. :)

  10. Sorry I'm late for the post, it never showed up in my email?

I so appreciate your passion for the Passion that chose us. Each year we grasp it a little bit better, a little deeper, a bit more wisdom from our Father.

Blessings to you and yours, Cheryl.

    1. I'm so sorry it never showed up in your email. I don't know why that happens sometimes. I apologize. I so appreciate your kind words and visit. May the dear Lord bless you and your family. I am praying for you.
