I Am Joining President Trump in Prayer - Please Pray, Too!

"If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
2 Chronicles 7:14

Have you ever seen such troubled times?  In all my years of living life, I can say that I have never witnessed such calamitous times as those that are unfolding before our very eyes.  At this moment, you would have to be living in a cave to not realize that the world around us, as we know it, is reeling completely out of control.  Spiritual compromise, diminishing morals, continual threats of communicable illness and disease, fear of terrorist attacks, civil and political unrest, familial discord, wars and rumors of war, and a plethora of other distressing situations and circumstances hold the potential to completely destoy our inner peace.  All this, on top of the intense struggle of making ends meet and surviving everyday life.

None of this comes as a surpise to our Lord.  Jesus said, "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33

I am deeply grateful and find it extremely comforting that we have a President who believes in the God of Heaven and has called for a National Day of Prayer on this Lord's day, Sunday, March 15 2020.

If ever we needed to come together in a unified stance of earnestly seeking the face of God, it is NOW.  As the world around us continues to spiral out of control, it is vitally important that we, as the body of Christ, remember Who we serve, Who is in control of our lives, and in Whom we have placed our trust.

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea."  Psalm 46:1-2

We are not without hope.  We are not victims of the ebb and flow of the world's hysteria.  We have an anchor that holds fast, regardless what is going on around us.  Our God has made promises to us, and we can rest in the fact that it is impossible for Him to lie or go back on His Word.

"Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.  This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil."  Hebrews 6:17-19

"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness."  Isaiah 41:10

"God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?"  Numbers 23:19

We are not powerless in these overwhelming times.  We are children of the Most High God.  We are partakers of His Divine nature.

"Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."  2 Peter 1:4

Included in the armor of God is the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.  (Ephesians 6:17)  The Sword will only do you good if you pick it up and use it.

SPEAK GOD'S WORD OUT LOUD.
Verbally releasing the Word of God is extremely powerful.
I encourage you to speak the following passage of Scripture out loud over yourself and your loved ones every, single day.  Insert your and their names where you see "thy" and "thee" and "my."  Claim these words and make them yours.

"A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.  Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation, there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling."  Psalm 91:7,9,10

Printable:
"A thousand shall fall at ___________'s side, and ten thousand at _______________'s right hand; but it shall not come nigh ______________.  Because ______________ hast made the LORD, which is ____________'s refuge, even the most High, _____________'s habitation, there shall no evil befall _____________, neither shall any plague come nigh ____________'s dwelling."

Be encouraged, my friends.  The only justification for panic would be if God was no longer in control.  Truth is, He will ALWAYS be sovereign, He will never leave His throne, and we are His children.  Therefore, we have nothing to dread or fear.

We have, within our grasp, a golden opportunity to calmly show the terrorized world around us that God is worthy of their trust and confidently lead them to the cross.  We can demonstrate the glorious serenity of a fearless heart so committed to God that the sting of death has been removed.  Instead of going into full-blown panic like everyone else, we can rest in the peace that comes from total surrender.  (See last post.)

Today, on this National Day of Prayer, let us pray with all our might.  Let's lift our voices as one and follow the four steps laid out in 2 Chronicles 7:14 -
1.  Humble ourselves
2.  PRAY
3.  Seek God's face
4.  Turn from our wicked ways

While you are praying, please be sure to pray for President Trump, Vice President Pence, and all of our leaders that God will keep them safe and healthy and grant them the wisdom they need to lead our nation back to GOD, the strength to continue to defend the religious liberties so dear to our hearts, the courage to continue to stand for life and to fight hard against abortion, and the fortitude to make decisions that are in alignment with God's Word and standard, regardless how much opposition they face.

  4. Yep. I'm praying. And I agree, the lost world is straight up panicked. We have the promise of provision. He causes or allows all things and we're to revere Him, not what He's causing or allowing to bring about His perfect will glory.

Those first two verses you quoted are two of my favorite and ones I quote often, out loud and to myself.

  7. LOVE, Love, love this post. God's Word will always remain and never change though the world around us will. I am trusting the King of Kings and Lord of lords. He is total CONTROL and what He says goes! Love this Cheryl....love it. Praying that as we all use precaution as we should that we KEEP OUR EYES FOCUSED ON THE ONE that has His children's name inscribed on the palm of His hand. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
