Building An Arsenal of Scripture

"Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses."
I Timothy 6:12

On Easter Sunday, I published this post, and in it, I mentioned this,

"God has given me an exacting assignment that is requiring every bit of my creative time and energy.
It is requiring me to press hard into prayer and moments with Jesus for much needed inspiration and help.  I have never felt more dependent upon Him or more in need of His Divine in-pouring into this very incapable vessel of clay."

I have been, and still am, very much involved in the exacting assignment God is asking of me,
and I tell you that ever since it began, I have been going through a season of severe, and I do mean severe, testing.

I will not lie and tell you that I feel victorious in this testing.
Let me just be transparent and brutally honest.
There is no sense in sugar-coating it or trying to falsify the truth for the sake of "appearances".
It is what it is.

I have not been and am not happy about these trials.
I have felt downright angry and abandoned and disillusioned more times than I'd like to admit.
Dear Lord, forgive me, but I have railed out questions to Him, like,

"Where are YOU?"
"What did I do to reap such punishment?"
"Why are You against me?"
"Lord, I am doing everything You are asking me to do, so why are You allowing this?"
"Do You not see what is going on?"
"Do You even care?"

I think I have totally failed the test.
Shamefully, I have not gone, nor am I going through this trial very all.
I have not "counted it all joy", even though, our precious son, Zach, often reminds me of James 1:2.
"My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations..."
As Zach gently reminds me of this verse, he also goes on to include the next verse that reads,
"Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience."
Zach tells me that it is not that we feel JOY because we are undergoing such tests and trials,
but what we "count JOY" is the result of the trials.
We count are supposed to count JOY the good that is being wrought in us through our testing.

Dear Zach!
I have lost count of the times that he and Kevin have stopped what they were doing to pray with and for me.
God bless my dear, patient, loving husband and son.

It is no secret that I often have a hard time "feeling" God when I am going through such difficulties.
If you are a person who can feel Him in those places, I applaud you, my friend.
More often than not, such is not the case with me.
And, because of that, I struggle.
You can read more about my struggles HERE and HERE.

The other night, out of the blue, the dear Comforter came to me with three words.
"Arm yourselves likewise."
That was it.
I had heard the verse many times throughout life, but, for the life of me, in that moment,
I could not remember where it was located in the Bible or exactly whom it was referring to.
I kept wondering, "Arm yourselves like who?"
I couldn't wait to finish what I was doing so I could look it up and see the surrounding context and find out who we are to "arm ourselves" like.
Was it referring to Paul?

"Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God."
I Peter 4:1

Christ, our loving Lord!
Of course, it is He we are to arm ourselves like!

The precious Holy Spirit continued to speak to me,
"Child, you are not using your armor.
You are not picking up your Sword to fight."

I could not deny His truth.
The constant battering and bruising and attacks by the enemy had rendered me exhausted,
discouraged, and near-lifeless.
I had NO strength left to fight.
No energy to pick up the Sword that lay, shamefully unused, by my side.

Whether you and I like it or want to admit it,
we are engaged in spiritual warfare that is very real.
We can pretend it isn't happening.
We can bury our heads in the sand and hope satan doesn't discover our hiding place.
We can try to run away from the battlefield.
The truth is that when we sell out to God and determine with all our heart and mind to follow Jesus,
regardless what it costs, we step into a raging, hostile, merciless war zone with a target on our back.
This is reality.
This is what is going on.
The more we sink into God, the more we strive to be like Jesus, the more satan perceives us as a threat.
What he perceives to be a threat to darkness, he will oppose.
The harder we try to work for God and pursue the building of His kingdom,
the more determined satan will be to oppose and extinguish what God is doing in and through us.

"And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him."
Zechariah 3:1

"Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices."
2 Corinthians 2:11

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Ephesians 6:12

This is real, folks.
No doubt about it.

If you continue reading the above passage in Ephesians 6, you will find that God has provided a six piece suit of armor for us to "arm ourselves like" Jesus, so that we can triumph in this spiritual war.
 1.  Belt of truth
2.  Breastplate of righteousness
3.  Shoes of the Gospel of peace
4.  Shield of faith
5.  Helmet of salvation
6.  Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God

I find it interesting that of the six pieces of armor, five are defensive, but only one is offensive.

As the precious Holy Spirit dealt with my heart the other night,
my thoughts immediately went to the time Jesus was so sorely tested in the wilderness,
right before He began His earthly ministry, and how each time satan came to Him with such audacious temptations, Jesus overcame by wielding the Sword of the Spirit and verbally speaking the Word of God.

"And take...the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God..."
Ephesians 6:17

If Jesus conquered satan by quoting the Word of God, how can we hope to be victorious in any other way?
And, how can we quote His Word if we have not hid it in our hearts?

Psalm 119:11 says,
"Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee."

How can it readily be drawn forth in the heat of the battle, if we have not saturated ourselves with it ahead of time?
Just as a U.S. Marine would never enter hostile territory without a rifle or other offensive weapon,
a soldier of the cross should never walk into hand-to-hand satanic combat without the Sword of the Spirit.

Before walking into my current battles, I knew this.
A near-lifetime of Scripture memorization has equipped me.
The Word of God is there, settled deep into my composition.
But, what good is it doing if I am not actively picking up the Sword and using it?

When the Lord whispered, "Arm yourselves likewise", I finally got the message.
The reason I was feeling so defeated, whipped, and overcome was because I was not arming myself.
I was not wielding my Sword.
The armor was there, available, but I was not taking advantage of it.

I don't know what you may be going through, but I know of a certainty that you are going through something.
We all are.
If Jesus Christ was not exempt from severe testing, what would ever make us think that we are?
So, the thing for each of us to do is to build what I call an M.S.A.,
aka as a Massive Scriptural Arsenal.

Arsenal - a collection of weapons and military equipment stored by a country, person, or group;
an array of resources available for a certain purpose.

Don the pieces of armor...every, single day, and read the Bible.
Immerse yourself in the Word of God.
Search the Scriptures.
Absorb them.
Infuse them into every possible waking thought.
Soak your soul in them.
And, here is the most important thing...
memorize them.
This is what it means to hide them in the heart.
Deposit them into your Massive Scriptural Arsenal.
This way, the Word will be there, a sword ready to be drawn in the heat of the moment when you are face to face with the enemy.

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
Hebrews 4:12

In closing, I would like to share some of the stock in
  my personal Massive Scriptural Arsenal.
I hope you will adopt them and use them to start building your own M.S.A.
Trust me, my friend, and I know you already know this,
but, you will need it.
God bless you as you press forward, in Jesus' name, ever fighting the good fight of faith.

"Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you."
Luke 10:19
(A dear friend emailed me this one the other day.  I had forgotten about this verse!  Oh, it has blessed me and fortified my courage!  Our dear Lord spoke this verse from His very own lips.  I have added it to my M.S.A., and it will stay there from now on, ready to be wielded, as needed.  Thank you, dear Kathleen for this reminder!)

I would love it if you would share one (or however many you would like) Scripture(s) from your own personal Massive Scriptural Arsenal in the comments below!

  1. Good morning, Cheryl. I so love your honesty with us and know that you struggle, too. Don't we all?? You have shared some powerful verses, and I have one that I would like to share:
"Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer." Romans 12:12
    Isn't that a beautiful one?
May you have a lovely weekend. Love and blessings as we share in our journey.

    1. Dear, precious Kitty! THANK YOU for your dear, kind words. I LOVE the verse you shared...YES, it is a beautiful one, my friend. Thank you SO much. Sending love and blessings back to you and praying for you and your burdens. God be with you always!

  2. Cheryl, you are amazing! Thank you for being so vulnerable and so encouraging at the same time. You nailed SO many good scriptures and I know so many, including me, are thankful for such a solid resource!

    1. Dear, sweet friend! Thank you ever so much for your kind, precious words! They meant so much! The Lord is giving me a whole new batch to add to the arsenal, and Lord willing, I will be sharing them soon. These fiery trials are SO hard to walk through, but they sure do make us seek Him with our whole heart, and they sure do produce some deep, valuable spiritual good. Sending love and hugs to you today!

  3. It seems that it is a continual struggle, Cheryl. The evil one is so quick to knock us down. Thankfully we do know in our hearts that we are protected and have One who will uphold us.

    1. Oh, how true, my friend! How very true! So thankful for your sweet visit...I hope you and your husband are well. :) Sending love and hugs to you across the many miles!!

  4. I'm sorry to hear you're going through times of tribulation. None of us like to go through them, it is a struggle to count it joy, but we gain so much in the tough times. We gain wisdom to help others and ourselves when the next battle comes along.

I think all of the 23rd Psalm is fitting for this subject.

Romans 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

    1. OH, my brother! We surely do gain so much in the tough times! I love the Psalm you precious and comforting after all these years and times of hearing it. And the Romans passage you shared is just precious to my soul. Thank you for stopping by and for always being such an encouragement to me! God bless you with whatever you are going through today!

  5. Thank you putting yourself out there and sharing your heart. I will remember you in prayer.♥ "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:4-7

    1. Thank you for your prayers, Debby! They are precious to me indeed! LOVE the verses you shared! Thank you ever so much!!! God bless you, my friend. :)

  6. Hi, it's Su Ann!
Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

*I printed this article for my prayer journal. Thank you for writing it.*

    1. Dear Su Ann!! I love and appreciate you so much, sweet friend. It touches me that you have printed it are a constant source of encouragement, even in spite of your own intense trials. I am praying for you and believing God to see us both through our struggles.

  7. Hi Dear Friend, I am currently reading a book called Guarded by Christ, Knowing the God who Rescues and Keeps Us, by Heather Holleman, that I can already tell is going to be a life changing book for me. On the back cover she says, "Do you know in your head that Jesus cares for you, but struggle to actually apply that truth so you feel less afraid, anxious or hopeless? Throughout the book she shares how to internalize God's Truths, God's righteousness instead of condemnation, peace instead of anxiety, hope instead of despair, the Holy Spirit's power instead of self-effort and a crucified life instead of a self-important one.

Your post is the perfect addition to what I have already been learning through this book in how to fortify ourselves in the Lord and having a Massive Arsenal of Scripture certainly is the best way. You share so many wonderful verses that remind us of the power we have in Christ Jesus.

My life verse is Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you is my number one weapon for spiritual warfare which typically comes for me in my weakest area which is worry and anxiety.

Cheryl thank you so much for sharing yet another incredibly edifying post! The Lord has given you the gift of encouragement with a humble and gentle spirit. I treasure you and our friendship.

May the God of peace strengthen you and comfort you.

    1. Oh, Karen! Thank you ever so much for the precious friend and support and encouragement you are to me. I can't begin to tell you how much your emails mean and your comments and your precious blog, too. I LOVE the verse you is a perfect one to add to the arsenal. Will be sharing some more here soon, Lord willing, as He continues to pour into this time of trial and testing. God bless you again and again...sending love and hugs to you!!!

  8. Dear Cheryl,
I am sorry for the struggles you are facing, dear friend! But I am thankful for the way that you share your heart, and God's Words so freely with all of us here! I needed this reminder tonight of a time when God spoke similarly to me, with just a portion of Scripture. He woke me up with these words: "I will indeed do the very thing you have asked." And I found a faith arising in my heart, because I knew that Passage was from Exodus (33) when Moses asked God NOT to abandon them, and God said that, YES, His presence would go with them. What a Precious Lord we serve, who speaks straight to our hearts, and brings His Word alive to us! You are in my prayers, as you walk through this trial! May the Lord indeed go with you. Love and Hugs!

    1. Dear Bettie! Your visits and words are precious indeed to my heart! Oh, praise God for that amazing verse He gave to you! I receive it now into my situation and am believing GOD to do something amazing, because that is what I am expecting of Him. I keep thinking of where Jesus said, "According to your faith, so be it unto you." It is sinking in to me that our answers to prayer depend solely upon our faith and what we can believe God will do for us. THANK YOU for your prayers, dear friend. God bless you again and again!!

  9. I am simply going to say thank you. Thank you for trusting us and sharing of your troubles. But most of all, thank you for sharing all of these scriptures in one place. Many are my favorites and when I return home I'm going to print them out and begin memorizing each and every one. So thank you for helping me build my arsenal.

    1. Oh, Betsy! What a precious comment! Your words are such a great comfort to my heart. Thank you for printing these out...I value you and your precious friendship more than I could ever put into words. Sending love and hugs to you today!

  10. Ugh. Me too. ha, ha. That's about it. ME TOO! Same thing, same battle, same everything. Sometimes it gets SO HARD. God seems so silent. Our current battle is in the same "quiet" moment. Thank you for this great reminder! I am praying for you, my friend. :)

    1. Dear, sweet friend, I am praying much for you and your family, too. We need each other in these battles, and it is such a comfort to know that we are not alone. Sending much love to you today and believing God to send the miracles we both need!

  11. Dear Cheryl! I wish I could take the pain and hurt and sickness from your body and replace it with the peace, healing and comfort you so desire! I cannot even imagine how difficult this journey is for you, and so I stand beside you, virtually holding up your arms in prayer, praying for God to strengthen you for the battle He has allowed you to be in.

When I read the verse you shared that the Lord spoke to you about, it seemed that suffering jumped out to me most significantly: "Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God." I Peter 4:1"

It struck me very deeply that we are to arm ourselves with the knowledge that we must suffer even as Christ Jesus suffered for us "as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind"... and I think along with the arsenal of scripture that you are building, a most wonderful and powerful thing to do, that we must also understand that even as Christ Jesus suffered in the flesh, we must arm ourselves likewise with the same MIND that suffering is a part of our journey with him, as He suffered, so must we.

Now, my flesh recoils, and always has, at that verse, because just as you have shared, the suffering can be so intense as to feel we will die and cannot bear it any longer. Yet, there is something powerful at work going on here with the suffering, because, the verse continues on to say: "for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God." Because suffering kills the flesh, its desires, and lusts, the purpose of the suffering is so that we can live unto the will of God, and not the wills of our flesh. How I wish it weren't so! But, we know the Word to be true, and it cuts deep into us at times.

The Lord spoke a very deep and difficult verse to you, in the midst of your suffering, I think HE wants you to know that this suffering is part of a greater purpose, and that you are more perfectly in the will of God, because this time of suffering has killed the flesh and its desires, and has allowed you to live more fully unto the will of God. HE has a GREAT PURPOSE for all this dear Cheryl, of that I KNOW! The Word says so! Take faith, look up and trust His WORD in this time of difficulty, and you will be able to stand still and see the GLORY of the Lord come to rest in your soul and the great purpose of the Lord to reign in your life.

Praying for you dear friend, I look forward to the great things that the Lord has in store for you, and when the trial is over, you will come forth as shining gold!

1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

    1. Thank you ever so much for your precious prayers, dear friend. God is surely still on the throne, and He is with us, even when we cannot "feel" Him! I so appreciate all you poured into this comment. Your words confirm much of what the dear, precious Holy Spirit is teaching me through all of these trials and tests. May He bless you again and again for sharing all that is in your heart. Sending much love and many hugs to you...along with so much gratitude. Thank you ever so much. :)

  12. Thanks for the encouragement! It is good to have the sword of the Spirit--the word of God!

    1. Yes, it surely is, Bethany! What a powerful weapon...and completely at our disposal! God bless you, sweet friend. :)

  13. You've got a great arsenal there! I don't think it was an hour ago that I just spoke Isa 54:17 telling the devil that no weapon forged against me shall prosper. Perhaps you are very close to a huge breakthrough that there is such an onslaught? My friend has been praying for her adult daughter who was undergoing a second battle with cancer. My friend sold her home and purchased another very close to her girl to help out while she still has her. Just before moving in, my friend broke out with the shingles virus and had to deal with that. However, her daughter went in for a screening and is cancer free! The enemy is relentless in his attempts to discourage us so you are wise to memorize with these beautiful weapons. Love you and sending prayers and hugs!

    1. I LOVE that verse, dear Mary! Oh, I have pondered your words SO much and told my dear family about them, too. "Perhaps you are very close to a huge breakthrough that there is such an onslaught?" I truly do hope this is true, and I LOVED hearing about your friend's daughter who was healed! Praise GOD!!!! Love you, too, sweet friend, and I SO appreciate your prayers. I am praying for you, too. God bless you abundantly!

  14. Great post of encouragement! Our pastor just began a series on the book of Lamentations. Now I have to say, I don't recall EVER hearing a sermon series on this book! Today he pointed out that there are two books of weeping/mourning: Lamentations and of course, Job. The difference being Job was suffering NOT because of anything he had done but Lamentations is filled with statements about how the writer HAD sinned against God. It's been an interesting series so far let me tell you! Thank you for sharing your heart.

    1. I don't think I have heard much preaching on the book of Lamentations, either. Wow, that sounds very interesting. I know you are gleaning many nuggets of truth from that! God bless you, sweet friend...I so appreciate your visit and encouragement!

  15. Cheryl, words fail me.
Honestly, this is such sound advice, and not just from the sidelines, but from the midst of the fight. Thank you for fueling my own heart's fire.

    1. Dear Michele! Thank you ever so much for your precious comment, friendship, and encouragement. You are such a dear blessing to me! God bless you, my friend. :)

  16. Dear Cheryl,
It is true isn't it that we all have such painful struggles and so many times those struggles bring us to our knees. It is a blessing to me to witness your strength, faith and love. Standing together and united makes the journey more bearable.
Blessings to you for your uplifting words and encouragement too.

    1. Oh, you are SO right...standing together surely does make the journey more bearable. What a precious thought! Thank you ever so much for your kind words and sweet visit, my friend! God bless you!

  17. Cheryl... This is SO important... and this is why I did LOTS of memorization w/ my kids over the years... so many times the "right" Scripture just pops into my mind.. and I pray it will for them as well. Faith is a deliberate walk of obedience and trust... even w/ all of the bumps along the way. Thank you for sharing this... and I am praying for you. :)

    1. YES, it is so true that the right Scripture pops into our minds just when we need it the most. Thank you ever so much for your prayers! They truly mean so much. God bless you...I am praying for you, too!

  18. Hello Dear Friend, how hard it's been for you lately, and how bravely you are fighting to keep your head above water. I am grateful for your husband and son who pray with you and encourage you too.
Remembering the words of the Lord really does help. His help is always there, and I know he wants to help you. He loves you more than you could ever know or understand, and I know that you will come out on top. You have such a great faith, even when it wavers (and it wavers for everyone from time to time). Hang in there, and lean on God and family, and they will see you through. I know God will fight for you.
I remember in the Old Testament, it's written something like, "Why do you think you have to do anything? You just need to be still and let God fight for you." AMEN!

    1. Oh, dear friend! I am SO grateful for my dear husband and son, too! SO many times, they have stopped by my recliner and asked if they can pray for me. God is always faithful to send reprieves each time they do this. What a dear blessing they are to me, and what a dear blessing YOU are to me, too! Your words just meant more to me than I know how to express. THANK YOU ever so much for all you said here...I am clinging tight to your encouragement. I love the verse you shared...if I am not mistaken, I think it is in December 3:22...I didn't look it up, but I think it is somewhere around there. Sending love and hugs to you and trusting God to bless you again and again!

  19. "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;" Hebrews 10:23
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5,6
"If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself." 2 Tim. 2:13
    2 Chronicles 20
    Psalm 22:3
Lord, I thank you that Cheryl can lean on You Who have perfect wisdom and understanding, because You who have promised are faithful. And even when we are faithless, You are still faithful, for You cannot deny Yourself, and Faithful is Who You are. Thank You, Lord! I pray that Cheryl will move from this place of exhaustion and discouragement and march forth like Jehoshaphat and the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem did, worshipping and praising You even before they saw the deliverance that You promised. May she do the same. I thank You that You will inhabit her praises and go with her and before her. You are enthroned on our praises! Help us to remember to praise You even when we don't feel like it, for You are ALWAYS worthy of our praise, no matter what the circumstances are! Praise You, LORD! I pray in the exalted name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

    1. Oh, praise the dear Lord for you, precious friend!!! What a powerfully anointed prayer, and SO encouraging to me tonight! And, those verse! Oh, my! I just soaked them in like a thirsty sponge!!! THANK YOU ever so much for pouring your heart into this just blessed me more than I could ever say. God bless you abundantly, in return!!!

  20. Sweet Cheryl, I so appreciate your being so very real. Oh how I wish more of us women could feel that freedom without feeling as though we are being judged or frowned upon. Our Lord is FOR you even though there are times you may feel He is against you. Praise Him....Praise Him in the storm. And that is hard to do at times, I know. Praying for you dear lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

    1. Thank you SO much, sweet friend, for your dear words of encouragement! They were such a comfort to my heart tonight!! I cannot thank you enough for your prayers and faithful support. You are such a dear blessing to me!! I am praying for you, too. :)

  21. Praise the Lord that, whatever your situation, however difficult and hard it is for you, He is still in control.

Through your difficulties others have acted. Your husband and son have prayed with and for you. They would not have done that if everything was OK for you. Others here have commented, sympathised with you, and prayed for you. They would not have done that if all was OK with you. Through your troubles and difficulties others have acted. They have shown kindness towards you, they have shown love, and they have seen, and admired your honesty and perseverance. What an honour that through you so much good has come to be.

Trust in God. He is and will be with you always.

    Praying for you. God bless.

    1. Oh, Victor! Thank you!!!! Your words are always so wise, profound, and encouraging!! I cannot thank you enough, my friend. You are so right. May the dear Lord bless you richly for the blessing you are to me and to so many others!

  22. ((Hug)) Prayers for you, Cheryl. -- The Deuteronomy one is one of my favorites. In fact, coincidentally, I read it in my quiet time this morning. "...Don't be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today...The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm." (Parts of both verses 13 and 14 in the NLT.) ((Hug))

    1. Love, love, LOVE these verses!!! OH, they are precious to my soul tonight! Thank you ever so much, Brenda! May God bless you! Sending a big hug back to you, sweet friend. :)

  23. Hi, Cheryl---I just happened upon this article through the Simple Blog Hop, and I really needed this (your words) right now. Thank you for writing such an inspiring piece. You are doing great things for people. I'll be printing these verses and attempting to memorize them too.

    1. Oh, Heidi! It was just SO nice to meet you! Thank you SO much for your kind words...I am so grateful the dear Lord allowed you to find encouragement here. I LOVE your blog!! Wow, it is just wonderful. You inspired me to make a batch of soap...I have never tried doing it in the crock pot, and it sounds so much easier. So, I will be on the lookout for a used crock pot at a thrift store to use exclusively for soap, and I will be looking forward to getting back into soapmaking as soon as I can. You really inspired me. Thank you, my new friend!

  24. "It is no secret that I often have a hard time "feeling" God when I am going through such difficulties.
If you are a person who can feel Him in those places, I applaud you, my friend.
More often than not, such is not the case with me.
And, because of that, I struggle."

Sweetie, this is why it's called faith. Don't be too harsh on yourself. God knows your heart. Keep in the fight. Hugs to you!

    1. Sending hugs to you, too, dear friend, and trusting Jesus to bring you through your troubles, too. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement right from the midst of your own pain. God bless you and keep you always!!!

  25. Thank God Cheryl you have many Godly people praying for you during this hard time. There is nothing I can say that has not already been said but you can add me to the list of those who will pray. I certainly do not like trials but know they are necessary for growth in my faith in Him.

    1. Thank you SO much, dear Betty! Knowing you are praying is a great comfort and blessing. God bless you, my friend. :)

  26. I am sorry to hear of your trials but may it truly be used for God's glory! I love this post and your encouragement to have an arsenal of memorized scripture. I think that is wonderful. Here is one of my favorites: "Therefore dear brothers, stand firm, let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." 1 Corinthians 15:58

    1. Thank you so much, Abbi. I love the verse you shared and surely appreciated the encouragement tonight! God bless you. :)
